Who we are
Brightwick Works runs brightwickworks.com and the Minus to Plus course at learn.brightwickworks.com. Our address is P.O. Box 2005, Porcupine, ON P0N 1C0, Canada. For any privacy question or request, email support@brightwickworks.com.
We follow Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA (the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). We collect only what we need, we tell you why, and we don't sell your information.
What we collect and why
Email signup. If you join our email list, we collect your email address, and your first name if you give it. We use it to send the emails you signed up for, such as course news, tips and offers. Our email service is MailerLite, which stores your details and records when and how you agreed to hear from us. Our list emails come from hello@brightwickworks.com. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave any time.
Risk-tolerance quiz. The quiz runs in your web browser. Your answers aren't sent to us or saved anywhere, and closing the page clears them.
Brightwick Daily game. The game saves your streaks, scores and settings in your browser's storage on your own device, so you can pick up where you left off. None of it is sent to us. You can erase it any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Buying the course. Checkout and course access run on Thinkific, our course platform. When you buy, Thinkific collects your name, email, billing details and order information, and its payment processor handles your card. We can see your name, email, what you bought, what you paid, and your course progress. We never see or store your full card number. We use this to give you access, send receipts, answer support requests, process refunds and keep the records tax law requires.
Tracker sheets. When you copy a Budget or Portfolio Tracker, the copy is saved in your own Google account. We can't see your copy or anything you type into it.
Emails to us. If you email support@ (refunds and course help), hello@ (general questions, or replies to our email list), we keep the message so we can help you and follow up.
Site visits. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits in total: which pages are viewed, which site sent you, and your country, device and browser type. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't build a profile of you and isn't used for ads. We don't use advertising trackers, and our site doesn't set its own cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, sets one short-lived security cookie to block bots. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and pages with our signup form load MailerLite's form. That means those services receive basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, when the page loads.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the business, and only what each one needs:
- Thinkific, for checkout, payments, sales tax and course access.
- MailerLite, for our email list.
- Google, for the tracker sheets you copy into your own account and for our own business email and files, and for Google Fonts, which supplies the fonts on our pages.
- Our website hosts (Cloudflare Pages for the site and Brightwick Daily, and GitHub Pages for the quiz), which handle basic technical data, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.
Some of these services store data outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. Your information may then be subject to the laws of those places. We may also share information if the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we have about you, correct it, or delete it where the law allows. You can also withdraw your consent to emails at any time. Email support@brightwickworks.com, and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If you're in the United States: we don't sell or share your personal information for targeted advertising. You can make the same requests by emailing us, and depending on your state, you may have more rights under its privacy laws.
